Barnes Selected for LEAD ATA Program

Oct. 30, 2013

Abbeville, Ala. -

Selected from a national pool of trucking industry leaders, Larry Barnes, director of operations for Greenbush Logistics, Inc., is one of seventeen participants in the inaugural year-long leadership development program (LEAD ATA) sponsored by the American Trucking Associations and PeopleNet.

The Associations’ leadership program was created to engage and educate the trucking industry’s best and brightest, preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders. The diverse group of participants represents the many different segments, regions, and fleet sizes that make up the trucking industry, and is comprised of nationally-recognized trucking companies such as FedEx Ground, YRC Worldwide, Inc., and Con-way Truckload.

Kevin Savoy, vice president of logistics for Greenbush Logistics, Inc., announced Barnes’ selection to the leadership program. “Larry is a valuable asset to our team here at Greenbush Logistics, and we congratulate him on this honor,” Savoy said. “We strive to be the best at what we do, and we feel certain that Larry’s participation in the LEAD ATA program will help carry Greenbush Logistics into the future of the trucking and logistics industry.”

Barnes will participate in four classes throughout the year to gain real-world, in-depth experience to better serve Greenbush Logistics, Inc., and lead the company into the future. Each class will focus on one of the following topics: leadership, engagement, advocacy and development. The group’s first meeting and program introduction took place October 18-22, 2013 in Orlando, Fla. The leadership development program will wrap up in July 2014.

LEAD ATA is designed to highlight the many features of the American Trucking Associations, and teach participants how to more effectively use tools available to serve themselves and their companies. Participants will also gain a better understanding of the industry’s regulatory and legislative process, develop a stronger peer network, and enhance their leadership and management skills.

With more than 200 company-owned trucks on the road, Greenbush Logistics, Inc., based in Abbeville, Ala., began by providing logistics services to Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, the largest provider of pressure treated lumber products in the nation.
